Dixon Expansion Project
Have you heard the big news? Prairie State Tractor's Dixon store location is growing! This June, we revealed an expansion project includes a new 9,600 square foot service shop, dedicated turf and utility service area, and 2,080 square foot wash bay. Follow along with our construction progress updates:
4/21/2022 - Finishing Touches
Other than a few small things here and there, we can mark the Dixon expansion project as complete! The final touch was getting our Prairie State Tractor logo sign installed on the front side of the new shop. Our biggest logo sign at 40 feet, it will look great lit up at night from Interstate 88! Below you'll see a photo Josh Armbruster, Dixon Service Technician, using the overhead crane for the first time. The service team is excited to finally be able to put the new shop to use. Thank you to all the Dixon area customers for putting up with the construction!
3/15/2022 - Finish Line in Sight
All signs are pointing to a fully operational shop in time for spring planting season! The concrete floor has been laid. Crane installation completed. Even fire sprinklers installed and tested. Not much longer we can mark this project as complete!
12/16/2021 - Massive Exterior Progress
A lot has happened since our last construction update! Here's a rundown:
- Wash bay completed and operational
- New shop roof completed
- New shop walls nearly completed
- Garage door installation started and close to being finished
- Several of the concrete pads have been laid
Over the next few weeks, you'll see a shift to installation of interior mechanicals. Stay tuned!
10/14/2021 - Iron In The Sky
Exciting progress being made in the last few week! The larger new lawn and utility equipment service area is at point now where we can start utilizing it. The new wash bay space is getting final touches like engraved drain grates with the Prairie State Tractor icon and lighting. The most exciting development though has to be that the steel frame of the shop is being erected. You can now see the outline of the new shop and it's impressive... and much taller than our old ag shop! It's a testament to how much farm equipment (and our dealership) has grown over the past decades.
9/16/2021 - New Shop Construction Starts
The foundation for our new 80'x120' service has been poured. Over the coming weeks, you'll see the frame get erected. Progress continues on the new washbay and is getting closer to a finished product!
8/25/2021 - We've Got Walls
7/20/2021 - Laying the Foundation
The new washbay is coming along nicely! Concrete was recently poured for the foundation. Not much longer we'll being seeing walls go up. Elsewhere, existing buildings are getting a fresh coat of paint.
6/25/2021 - A Little Here, A Little There
The first sign of the new washbay building has appeared as workers prepare the foundation. The new connecting door frame is complete and waiting on it's garage door. Plumbing is underway for a new bathroom as well. Little things are happening everywhere!
6/11/2021 - Goodbye Old Washbay
Construction has officially started! One of the first things to go was the old washbay. The space between our old combine shop and warehouse also received a new door frame.
6/10/2021 - Public Reveal
We're breaking new ground at our Dixon location to better serve you! Our Dixon building expansion project will consist of a new state-of-the-art 80'x120' service shop with overhead 5 ton bridge crane, larger new lawn and utility equipment service area, and new 62'x32' wash bay. The tentative completion date is mid-December.
