John Deere Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers Get Redesigned for 2023

Nov. 3 2022 Homeowner By Prairie State Tractor

Model year 2023 Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers have larger components and additional improvements that combine to give improved durability, ride quality, ease of operation, and a noticeable, more stylish appearance.

Compared to previous models, the new Z300 ZTraks have:

  • 40 percent larger frame rails
  • 67 percent larger front caster spindles
  • 1 to 2-in. wider front, and up to 1-in. wider rear tires
  • 45 percent larger 3-gal. fuel tank
  • Longer fenders that provide additional coverage over the rear tires
  • Larger rear engine guard that shields additional engine components
  • Green-painted mower decks that give a robust appearance

Longer, 3-year or 200-hour warranty

The model year 2023 Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers are supported with a 3-year or 200-hour, whichever comes first, bumper-to-bumper warranty. The longer warranty replaces a 2-year or 120-hour warranty on model year 2022 Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers.

Green-painted mower decks align trade dress for all mowing products

To harmonize trade dress and simplify manufacturing, all model year 2023 riding lawn equipment will have green-painted mower decks and implements. The new color design means all John Deere compact utility tractors, residential, and commercial mowing equipment will have green-painted mower decks, snow blowers, and rotary brooms. All front blades will also be painted green, except the model 366 Front Blade for compact utility tractors which will remain black in color.

Forged mower deck construction

To respond to competitive claims that fabricated mower decks are superior to stamped mower decks, all John Deere mower decks with 10-gauge, 0.135-in. or thicker shells, and welded trim-edge reinforcements, will be described as forged mower decks to emphasize the performance advantages. Forged mower decks are manufactured using proprietary tooling and processes that produce the optimum deck shape to maintain superior cutting performance, durability, and under-deck cleanliness.

M and R Series models feature Kawasaki FR engines

The new Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers feature proven V-twin engines with plenty of power to handle tough mowing conditions. M- and R-Series models are the first Z300 ZTrak Mowers with Kawasaki engines.

Premium cut-and-sewn seats

The new Z300 Series ZTrak Mowers feature cut-and-sewn seats with:

  • 2 to 3 in. more height than the model year 2022 seats
  • More foam, resulting in a smoother ride than the previous form-in-place seats
  • Side-bolstering to stabilize the operator on uneven terrain
  • Improved visual appeal provided by the thicker cushion, bolstering, and embroidered John Deere logo
  • Standard armrests on R-Series models, BUC11566 armrest kit is available for E- and M-Series models
