Our 2-year Tech Student Program combines hands-on diesel training, classroom theory & a paid internship. You'll cover diesel engines, powertrains, electronics, hydraulics, and more in a modern shop with all the latest agriculture technology. How do I join?

  1. Complete our quick interest form. We recommend completing our app as soon as possible as we have limited spots available!

  2. Interview with us. We'll contact you to set up an interview and discuss our program in further detail. After interviewing, we will let you know if you've been accepted into our program.

  3. Choose a college. Apply and get accepted into a John Deere Tech school or any of our approved diesel mechanics programs.

  4. Sign your letter of intent with Prairie State Tractor. We'll come to your High School and have an official signing day (if you want us to).

  5. Start school and your internship. When the school year begins so will your paid internship at Prairie State Tractor.

Eligible for up to $12,000 in tuition reimbursement

Since we are a John Deere dealer, we offer more tuition reimbursement to students who attend a John Deere Tech partner school like Lake Land College. A John Deere Tech school's curriculum is specifically designed around John Deere equipment, meaning you receive the best possible preparation to work at a John Deere dealership following graduation.
