Introducing the All-New 8RX Tractor and the Latest-Generation of 8R, 8RT Tractors

You’ve heard the hype. You’ve heard the rumors. The wait is finally over. The all-new Model Year 2020 John Deere 8R Tractors are officially here.

After a much-anticipated release, John Deere announced the latest-generation of 8R Row-Crop Tractors on RFD-TV on October 28. In addition to updates on previously available models, Deere introduced the brand new 8RX Tractor, the industry’s first fixed-frame four-track tractor. Today, we are going to take a look at the newly redesigned and expanded 8 Family Tractor lineup.

The redesigned John Deere 8 Family builds on the foundation of the most popular row-crop tractors on the market. These tractors bring you the very best in operator comfort, visibility, power, capability, controls and integrated precision ag technology. The 8 Family Tractors feature an updated cab with automotive-inspired design and controls as well as bold new exterior styling. Customers have their choice of machine configuration, options and horsepower to fit their needs.

All-New Cab

The 8 Family Tractors feature a larger, more comfortable cab. There is additional headroom, a 24% wider entry path, and several seat options. There are three Comfort and Convenience Cab packages to choose from that include, Select, Premium or Ultimate. The Ultimate Cab includes an exclusive new leather seat with electronic adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage features, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen radio with smartphone ready connection and multi-speaker system. Also included in the Ultimate Cab are a leather-wrapped steering wheel, footrests and carpeted floor mat.

There are three additional ride comfort options available: air seat, ActiveSeat™ II (which utilizes an electrical control system to control the vertical seat top movement), and the new cab suspension system.

Visibility

Deere also offers three new packages for visibility. The Ultimate Visibility package includes 22 LED work lights, eight new LED convenience lights, integrated front and rearview camera, and four auxiliary camera inputs all strategically located to help the operator see 360 degrees around the tractor or implement. The Ultimate package features twice as many lights as current models to keep you running smoothly after dark.

Precision Ag Technology

The 8R, 8RT, and 8RX all come standard equipped with an integrated Gen 4 4600 CommandCenter™ display, StarFire™ 6000 integrated receiver, AutoTrac™ activation, and JDLink ™ Connect for 5 years. The new StarFire 6000 integrated receiver requires no calibration of the Terrain Compensation Module (TCM), is more accurate than previous models, and is less vulnerable to theft.

You can mix and match cab and visibility packages or simply get the highest-level of Comfort and Convenience, Visibility, Precision Ag Technology activation and connectivity, and ride comfort with the new John Deere Signature Edition.

Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) with CommandPRO

Standard equipment for all 8 Family Tractors with 310 or less engine horsepower includes the John Deere e23™ PowerShift transmission. Customers can also choose the optional IVT that's available for all models except the 8R 410, 8RT 410, and 8RX 410.

CommandPRO is now an available option on all 8 Family Tractors equipped with IVT. It is an ergonomic multi-function control lever that puts tractor speed, direction and implement control in the palm of the operator's hand. Any of the 11 reconfigurable buttons can be customized to your specific needs and individual settings can be saved for different operators. For example, you can move from parked to top speeds with the push of a button.

Dependability and Servicing

There are several improvements to diagnostics, connections and line routing. Tractors have up to 200 fewer connection points and fewer potential leak points. A handy new decal was added inside each tractor's hood panel displaying part numbers and key service locations and intervals.

The All-New 8RX

The one you’ve been waiting for. John Deere has been in the agricultural track tractor business since 1996. Deere has used their expertise to design a tractor that offers all the benefits of tracks while providing a driving experience more like a wheel tractor. Deere didn’t just add tracks to an 8R Tractor these machines are a fully engineered four-track solution.

The all-new configuration features unmatched flotation, traction and ride quality. The 8RX delivers the pulling performance of tracks providing more surface area contact, less ground pressure and less slip than wheel tractors. It turns and maneuvers similar to a wheel tractor with a tight turning radius and low soil disturbance on the headlands.

There are four models available ranging from 310 to 410 engine horsepower. There are also multiple tread settings and track widths available in different combinations.

8R and 8RT

The 8R Wheel Tractors continue to be a great option for many operators. There are now seven models to choose from ranging from 230 to 410 engine horsepower. The 8RT Tractors deliver excellent two-track pulling performance, plus the exclusive AirCushion™ suspension system and four-corner cab suspension. There are four models available ranging from 310 to 410 engine horsepower.

In addition to the expanded and updated 8 Family Series, Deere has a new name and number format for the series. The tractors now feature the tractor model listed separately from the rated engine horsepower. For example, 8R 410 Tractor.
