Introducing the New John Deere Z370R Electric Zero Turn Mower

In 2022, John Deere announced its commitment to offer an electric option in each turf and compact utility tractor product family by 2026. Today the first of these options was released to the public with the all-new John Deere Z370R Electric ZTrak Mower. The new Z370R Electric adds an electric-powered model to the recently updated Z300 Series platform. It is quiet, simple to operate, and eliminates most maintenance. Let's dive into what you need to know.

Electric performance without compromise

The Z370R Electric ZTrak delivers the productivity and cut quality of gas-powered Z300 ZTrak Mowers. Many proven components, including the 42-in. Accel Deep™ Mower Deck, are shared with the gas models. The electric transaxle has the same 7-mph travel speed as hydrostatic transmissions.

The Z370R can confidently mow two acres on a charge. The standard 3.2 kWh battery has up to 40 percent more capacity than competitors’ batteries. While competitors claim their electric ZTR mowers can mow similar-sized properties, their lower-capacity batteries are an indication of compromised performance and/or runtime.

Experience freedom from gasoline

All electric with zero emissions, this mower puts the “green” in John Deere mowing. No more special trips to the gas station. And no need for engine oil changes, filters, belts, grease points, or fuel stabilizers.

Simple charging

Onboard smart charger is built into the mower

  • Charge anywhere with a standard 120-volt outlet and grounded extension cord
  • Charge without removing batteries or using external charger to eliminate additional required storage space

Integrated Bluetooth technology

  • Remotely monitor charge status and battery level through MowerPlus app

Smart charger continuously monitors battery

  • Ensures optimum charging rate based on battery level and environmental conditions
  • Stops charging when battery reaches full charge, no need to unplug the mower
  • Maximizes battery life

Protection from Mother Nature

The same weatherization technology used on John Deere’s agriculture and construction products is found on the Z370R Electric ZTrak. Unlike competitive electric mowers, the Z370R can be washed with a water hose and stored outdoors. The battery is IP66 rated against dust and water and backed by a 5-year or 200-hour, whichever comes first, warranty. Plus all other components are covered by a 3-year or 200-hour, whichever comes first, bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Comfort features make mowing enjoyable

The Z370R Electric ZTrak eliminates the noise and vibration of a gas engine and hydrostatic transmission. A standard USB-C charging port is provided for rapid phone charging. Standard comfort features include:

  • 20-inch custom-tailored seat with armrests
  • Covered storage compartment
  • Light-emitting diode (LED) lights to finish mowing at dusk
    • Forward-LED lights illuminate in front of vehicle
    • Mid-LED lights light up the sides of the mower deck
  • Large 11x6-5 front caster wheels
  • Floor mat

Familiar and intuitive controls

The familiar Z300 Zero-Turn controls have been updated for the electric powertrain:

  • Power button activate the mower to be ready to operate, a key pin can be removed to prevent unintended access
  • Electric transaxle is tuned to be smooth, responsive, and operate like a gas-powered ZTrak Mower
  • Large display panel shows battery level, operating hours, and operating mode
  • Three operating modes tailor the mower’s performance:
    • Low mode - 5-mph (8-km/h) travel speed for trimming or precise maneuvering
    • High mode - Full 7-mph (11.3-km/h) travel speed for most mowing situations
    • Bagging mode - Increased mower-blade speeds to support material collection or challenging mowing conditions
  • Status display is built into footrest for increased visibility of battery level and mower status
  • Standard MowerPlus™ connector functionality wirelessly transmits mower information to the MowerPlus app so battery charge level and operating hours can be monitored remotely
  • Go home mode - when the battery nears depletion, the mower blades switch off and a battery reserve can transport the mower to a charging outlet
  • Automatic parking brake is applied when motion control levers are stowed outward and disengaged when levers are placed in the operating position
  • Foot pedal lifts the mower deck and cut-height adjustment knob ensures the deck returns to the correct position
  • The push-mode switch near the rear of mower allows wheels to roll freely to move mower

Attachment compatibility

The Z370R Electric ZTrak provides the same versatile attachments as gas-powered Z300 ZTrak Mowers:

  • Standard rear hitch provides towing capability
    • Pull a cart, up to 250 lb (113 kg) of weight
    • Use tow-behind spreaders, aerators, and thatchers
  • New MulchControl™ attachment (expected summer of 2023)
  • New 6.5-bu (230-L) rear bagger (expected summer of 2023)
  • Existing Grass Groomer, boarding step, foot pegs, and rear bumper attachments
  • Existing seat and protective covers
  • Existing sun canopy
