Model Year 2022 John Deere Planter Enhancements
This spring John Deere introduced new updates to their portfolio of planters for 2022, including the industry's first factory-installed, integrated liquid fertilizer delivery system on a tractor and planter together. Here's a look in greater detail at the new ExactRate™ liquid fertilizer system and other planter enhancements:
Easy fluid transfer with the ExactRate™ fluid transfer system
The next evolution of the ExactRate system showcases an integrated tractor and planter combination. It is the total solution that enables the most agronomic planter on the market today. The ExactRate fluid transfer system pairs planters seamlessly with ExactRate tractor tanks that can be fitted to an 8RX. It provides an easy connection point to allow transfer from the ExactRate tractor tanks back to the planter tank. This enables up to 1600 gallons of combined capacity between the tractor and planter tanks.
- Factory installed
- Designed and tested by John Deere to ensure the lines won’t pinch when folding
- Easily attaches to the ExactRate tractor tanks
Available on the following models: 1775NT, 1795, DB44, DB60, and DB66.
Decrease ground pressure with factory-installed tracks
Alleviate the ground pressure in your center section with optional John Deere factory-installed tracks. The tracks offer a larger footprint to allow for less compaction and better flotation.
- 13.3-psi ground pressure (based on weight distribution of a fully ballasted 24-row 1775NT Planter over track flat plate area)
- 20-mph transport speed
- Half-full carrying capacity during transport on a 24-row 1775NT Planter
- 100 percent factory installed
These factory-installed tracks increase the planter’s flat plate area from 112 sq in. to 416 sq in., which leads to reduced compaction in the planter’s center rows. When paired with the four tracks on the 8RX Tractor, the full solution provides just 15 psi to the ground. This option is currently only available on 1775NT Planters.
Added capacity to planter liquid tanks and Central Commodity System (CCS)
John Deere factory-installed liquid tanks offer a convenient way to carry fluid on the planter frame. Styling cues match the updated capacity CCS system tanks, and all brackets and mountings are 100 percent factory installed.

Increase visibility at night with LED lighting package
As planting windows get tighter, many growers are working longer hours to get the seed in the ground. With the optional premium LED lighting package, John Deere delivers better visibility when planting at night.
- Four additional LED lights
- Improves visibility when planting at night
- Illuminates row-units when servicing at night
- Turns on when tractor lights are engaged
SeedStar 2 monitoring system gives integrated innovation
In addition to the great features offered on SeedStar 2, model year 2022 brings some additional benefits:
- Introduction of a new seed monitoring variable-rate 32-bit controller
- Spacing (coefficient of variation [CV]) and singulation in base
- Low-rate seed alarm sensitivity toggle— enables grower to plant low rates at low speeds without experiencing nuisance warnings and ensuring planter metrics are still visible
New color-coded hydraulic hose handles
Color-coded aluminum hydraulic hose handles have been added in base on 1775NT and 1795 Planters. These new handles make it easy to match the hydraulic hoses on the planter with the correct function on the tractor. They feature an anti-slip, diamond-shaped design to make it easier to grip the hose and connect/disconnect it from the back of the tractor. The color-coded parts are laser engraved with the John Deere logo and the extend and retract icons to ensure proper function. Additionally, these color-coded hydraulic hose handles will also be available through parts for all models later this year.
