What Are RowMax Stalk Rolls?

A more recent addition to John Deere’s array of harvest solutions, RowMax Stalk Rolls address customers’ needs around residue along with power and weight for their front-end equipment.

There are three stalk roll options available to meet customers’ specific stalk residue preferences. The three options, RowMax Opposed, RowMax Intermeshing, and RowMax Chopping, allow customers to select the appropriate length of corn stalk residue for their operation.

Details

  • Manufactured from highly durable austempered ductile iron material with an added wear coating for increased wear.
  • Full-length blades provide total crop contact for appropriate sizing and cutting action from front to back.
  • Stalk roll tip speed compared to gathering chain speed is optimized to reduce material-other-than-grain (MOG) intake and increase overall capacity while minimizing losses.
  • Enclosed chain drives, gathering chains, and stalk rolls for each row to provide robust durability and uninterrupted harvesting.
  • Single piece cast knife roll design provides excellent serviceability when replacement is required.

New Chopping Stalk Roll Option

This new chopping stalk roll features 10 intermeshing knives and is able to size most stalk residue to less than 6 inches. John Deere's RowMax Chopping Stalk Rolls are designed to drop stalk residue on top of the row for improved planting performance for no-till and strip-till customers the following season. They also work to segment the stalk better and shatter the top of the stalk for reduced tire and track wear. If that’s not your desired stalk residue management, one of the other options may be a better fit.

John Deere RowMax Stalk Rolls are available for the first-time factory-installed on model year 2020 Corn Heads. RowMax row-unit kits are also available in the Parts Department for Model Year 2012 and newer 600C/600FC and 700C/700FC for StalkMaster and non StalkMaster row units.
